Collection contains regular reports made by University presidents; the secretary's correspondence; minutes and reports by the trustees and their committees; miscellaneous correspondence and reports; and a pen used to sign a resolution giving the University of Wyoming special tax status in 1915 by Wyoming Governor Joseph M. Carey; and the records of six committees formed in 1985 to examine institutional operations and priorities for the university centennial from 1985-1987.

The Wyoming constitution states that a bipartisan Board of Trustees shall be selected by the governor and approved by the Wyoming Senate for governing the University of Wyoming. The selected twelve trustees, who serve six-year terms, must all be residents of different counties. A maximum of seven of the twelve members can be registered in the same political party.
